Amboseli National Park provides the classic Hollywood image of Africa. Set in rolling savannah scenery it is dwarfed by the presence of the pink-tinged, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro which, at 5,896 meters, is the highest free-standing mountain in the world and topped by one fifth of all the ice in Africa. Against this magnificent backdrop roam vast herds of elephant accompanied by a kaleidoscope of other fabulous beasts - lion, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, baboon, gazelle hippo and wildebeest to name but a few. There are also over 400 species of birds, all manner of reptilian, flora and fauna and some of the most soul-searing views in Africa.
Day 3: Amboseli / Tree Hotel
Leave after an early breakfast and enjoy a short game drive as you drive out of the park for the Aberdares via Nairobi (Lunch). Transfer to your Tree Hotel (in the Hotel’s lodge-based transfer vehicle) for the rest of the afternoon / evening of game-viewing from your Hotel’s balconies as they frequent the floodlit waterholes. Dinner and overnight – The Ark, Treetops or Mountain Lodge
Day 4: Tree Hotel / Samburu
Transfer back to your base hotel after breakfast, where you connect to your driver. Proceed further North across the Equator to the edge of the Northern Frontier district of Samburu – The Samburu National Reserve. Arrival will be in time for lunch and thereafter, enjoy an afternoon game drive in this reserve famous the ‘Big Cats’ – the Leopard, Cheetah and the Lion.  Dinner and overnight at a lodge – Samburu Serena Lodge or similar

Day 5: Samburu
A full day in Samburu with game drives (2 game drives each of approx. 3 hrs – an early morning game drive at 0630 hrs to return at 1000 hrs and a late afternoon game drive at 1530 hrs to return at dusk). All meals and overnight as above

The Samburu National Reserve is unique scenically and is also home to some of unique wildlife found in this country including The Gerenuk, The Grevy’s Zebra and Reticulated Giraffe. The Samburu (Maasai cousin’s!) abound here in their ochre (possible is a visit to their village in between the two game drives on this day – this can be arranged through your driver / guide and entry fee settled direct)

Day 6: Samburu/Nakuru
Leaving Samburu after breakfast, we head to Lake Nakuru via Thompson Falls. Arrive in time for lunch and thereafter, an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge or Sarova Lion Hill Lodge
Lake Nakuru National Park: Located on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, this park has a great concentration of wildlife including waterbuck, gazelle, buffalo, rhino, the rare Rothschild giraffe, and if lucky, you may see lions and Leopard. The lake and National Park, which is also a bird sanctuary is famous also for its great concentration of birds, in particular the colourful flamingo and the Pelican, which seasonally feed off the abundant algae in the shallow waters of this soda lake.
The park was gazetted the first Rhino Sanctuary in the country and boasts of both the White and black Rhino. The park is also home to a large / great Euphorbia forest, which compliments the beauty of the acacia forest on the shores of the Lake - a ‘mini-paradise’ as described by many who have toured here!

Day 7: Nakuru/Maasai Mara
After an early breakfast, we leave the park viewing game as we exit and continue across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.  Arrive for lunch at your lodge followed by an afternoon game drive.  Dinner and overnight at a lodge – Mara Serena Lodge or similar

Day 8: Maasai Mara
Experience the Mara magic! Three game drives (an early morning, a mid-morning and a late afternoon game drive) in this Kenya’s premier reserve famed for its astounding concentration of wildlife.

Maasai Mara Game Reserve: The rolling grasslands of the Maasai Mara offer ideal game viewing and photographic opportunities and the grassy plains are broken by rocky outcrops which are favorite midday resting places for Lion. This is where millions of Wildebeest cross the Mara River from the Serengeti National park of Tanzania to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve of Kenya - an annual spectacular event, which brings along thousands of plains game and predators to the Mara, making the park a beehive of ‘wildlife activities’.  Some of the
other animals that could be found here include elephant, black rhino, buffalo, leopard, cheetah, wildebeest, zebra and gazelle. Hippo and crocodile abound in the muddy brown waters of the rivers, which traverse this reserve.

Day 9: Maasai Mara / Nairobi
An early morning game drive in the Mara is followed by break fast and thereafter, return to Nairobi to arrive late in the afternoon.

Brief Hotels’ descriptions:

Amboseli Serena Lodge: Framed against the glorious backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, the magnificently beautiful Mount Kilimanjaro, surrounded by miles of rolling grasslands, patrolled by vast herds of elephant, shaded by the lush, feathered-green of an acacia grove and hugging the banks of a gently flowing river, this very traditional yet supremely luxurious lodge is the safari destination of a lifetime. Most rooms have a great view of the Mighty mountain – Kilimanjaro, and facilities here include a swimming pool.

THE ARK  - AT THE YASABARA WATERHOLE

The Yasabara Waterhole in the Aberdare National Park is a haven for wildlife as it contains both a waterhole and a salt lick. When the animals come to visit at night, a buzzer sounds in your cabin so that you can see the game in all their nocturnal glory… The photographic hide and various viewing decks make the Ark the perfect educational overnight stay as the animals can be

studied at close range without disturbing them at all. Hot water bottles, blankets and hot drinks are available throughout the night to ensure comfortable game viewing.
After breakfast the next morning, tired but happy with the night's show, you will be taken back to the Aberdare Country Club for the next stage of your trip!
Mara Serena Safari Lodge set on the saddle of a hill, overlooks the 1800 square km of the rolling plains, woodlands and rivers that make-up the Maasai Mara triangle – one of the worlds’ richest wildlife sanctuaries. No other lodge can boast such a spectacular of the surrounding landscape, game and birdlife. It is on this very much terrain stretching endlessly before the lodge where the annual migrations take place, when millions of Wildebeest, Zebra and gazelle transverse the landscape to feed on the rich new grass and give birth to their young. Accommodation is in 71 rooms all overlooking the plains below. Additional features include a floodlit swimming pool, poolside barbeque massage and beauty treatment, a water hole (where animals come to salt-lick), hippo pool breakfasts, musical Evenings, Maasai dances, wildlife films, resident naturalist lectures and game drives among others.
Mara Sarova Lodge is Located on the Eastern side of the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve, close to the Sekenani Gate. The camp is set on an elevation surrounded by two streams.
